Handmade Bar Soap Will Make Your Skin Beautiful

Colorful soap in a dish.

Handmade soap is good for your skin and will make it look its best if used regularly. The ingredients of commercially available hand cleansers include detergents which do a good job at cleaning your hands. In fact, they actually work a little too well. Detergents have a way of stripping the naturally occurring oils from your skin. Without these naturally occurring oils, your skin starts to feel dry, tight, and itchy. This opens the door for other products like moisturizers, which increases profits for some manufacturers. You can minimize this effect by washing with a handmade bar of soap, and your skin will thank you.

Handmade bar soap is made by combining fats and lye which creates soap and glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant, which means that it will also help to draw moisture from the air and the lower layers of your skin. This moisture makes the outer skin layer feel moist and bouncy. Large commercial manufacturers will often remove the glycerin from the soap and add them to other water-based products that command a higher price and more profit like lotions and creams.

Handmade Soap is Great for Your Skin

Handmade soap is great for your skin, and a well-made bar of handmade soap will leave your skin at its best, even after repeated washings. Some people have even told us that they don’t even need lotion anymore after switching to our soaps, because their hands feel so much better. Personally, we find that we have become accustomed to handmade soap. Using commercial based detergents leaves our skin feeling tight, dry, and irritated. We often still do use lotion, but not as much as we would if we didn’t use handmade soap.
